If there was ever a reason to exercise this is it! Of all the injuries, a back injury ensures that you will remain in bed. There is a perception that as we age we should expect to have lower back problems. This is a complete falacy.
The body is made up of bones, forming our skeleton. The skeleton is held into position by muscles. Muscles need to be exercised to retain muscle tone (tension). If the muscle tone is not maintained, the bones will not be held in place and can become displaced, specifically the vertibrae.
The vertibrae encase the spinal cord. The nerves which control every muscle in our body attach to the spinal cord through small spaces between the vertibrea.
If the vertibrae are displaced, they can press on the nerves, thus causing pain.
